Wedding Reception Games

When you start planning a wedding you have to think about all the details, including the wedding ceremony and the wedding reception party. At the party you have to find a way to entertain your guests, because to have fun at a wedding is not something which comes natural, mostly because weddings tend to have a serious and sentimental atmosphere.

So, you may want to think about some wedding reception games. There are plenty of ideas you can choose from, so you do not have to worry about not knowing any games.

You can choose any game you like, but you have to take under consideration, the age of you guests, their preferences, your families’ concepts and the general traditions they believe in. Here are some of the wedding reception games couples uses on their parties.

Out The Spot Art is one of the wedding games used at many parties. The whole concept of the game is based on the idea that the names all guests have to be putted into a champagne bucket. Everybody has to have paper and some writing instrument. Then, every guest has to pick one of the notes where another person’s name is written and draw the portrait of that guest. The names of the persons who made the draw and the ones that are portrayed have to be written on the paper. This can be very funny for all your guests, because they really do not have to have any drawing talents.

Another very interesting wedding reception game is the Roman Hands and Russian Fingers. The bride has to be blindfolded through the time when the best man places three small clips somewhere on the groom’s body. They have to be putted in very difficult places to find for the game to be funny. After they have been placed, the bride without seeing has to find each of the clips by touching the groom’s body with her hands. The game can be funnier if the other guests tell the bride “colder” and “warmer” when she is closer or far away from the clips. Instead of helping her find the clips, most guests at the weddings where this game is played, decide not to tell her the truth at the beginnings.

However, if your wedding reception is a smaller one, the perfect game would be “Play that Tune”. For this game a preparation has to be done before the party. You will need some short popular song clips preferred by the recently married couple. The guests have to be divided in two and one member of the groups will have a Play that Tune round. The first person who knows the song wins. The game continues this way until the songs are over and every one of the teams’ members have guest one song. The first team to finish wins. For the game to work, the guests have to sited in an order established at the moment.

Some wedding games are OK to be played some others might just create not a very good atmosphere. I mean, you are at a wedding, not at a stupid pajama party. I went to such a wedding, where they played a game similar to ‘Play the tune’. it went just awful. It was so artificial and so static. There were too little those who enjoyed it. Maybe because we were too many and until our turn came we got a little bored. Some people didn’t pay attention. They were whispering, like in schools. It was too long a game. Finally, the couple decided to end it before it should have. I might say quicker, shorter games are more appropriate. Maybe that on with the clips you described. That would be better.
