Wedding Prayers

The wedding ceremony is not just a party, a fancy one with costly food and remarkable outfits. Religious ceremony deep connotation refers to the courage of a couple to become a family, the life commitment and the promises to love and respect the partner.
The religious ceremony is all about wedding prayers. But it all starts with grooms parents. The groom and its bride have to receive parents symbolist approval to get married. So that they have to kneel in front of both of the families(groom`s family and bride`s family at the same time) and say a wedding prayer, including contentments of their parents' approval and forgiveness. For example: “Forgive me mother and father, if I ever made something wrong, I`m leaving now with the man I love. I leave your threshold for the man I like.”

Furthermore, the priest starts the ceremony itself immediately afterwards. But the first thing he will say is another wedding prayer, as a bless that they need in order to start the wedding. An example of an opening prayer is: “God, for the joy of this occasion we thank you. For the significance of this wedding day we thank you. For this important moment in an ever growing relationship we thank you. For your presence here and now and for your presence at all times, we thank you. In Christ's holy name. Amen”. But, this is kind of a traditional ceremony. It depends on each and every pair of grooms,on what they like the priest to include in the ceremony. Apart from this, it depends on each and every culture, church and priest. In other words every country has its traditions regarding this subject.

After that there are some biblical statements and the ceremony itself, when the grooms are blessed and unify themselves into one, they become one soul, one person. And for this moment there are also some wedding prayers, such as “Bless this marriage, as..groom`s name and …bride`s name begin their journey down the road of life together. May they respect each other's likes and dislikes, opinions and beliefs, hopes and dreams, and fears even though they may not always understand each other.May they rest in the knowledge that no matter what happens by holding on to each other things will work out for the best. Most of all, dear God, help them to keep the torch of love burning with the fire that they now share in their hearts.Amen”. This is like the ultimate congratulation, the moment that ends the whole ceremony.

To sum up, the wedding prayers are the symbol fo asking God`s benediction, a ceremony with intense emotions, deep faith connotations and love celebration. It is the most important moment of grooms unification. Consequently, “what God unified, people should not destroy”.
