Wedding Poems

A poem is the most sensitive way of showing our feelings. Needless to say, to a wedding reading a poem is a very romantic love declaration one can make to his or her soul mate. Nowadays, they have so much popularity that wedding poems can be read instead of wedding vows. An extremely method of showing your enormous love and desire to express it is to write a wedding poem by yourself. That way you give originality and truly sincerity.

Love can not be measured, but has lots of interpretations and meanings and different ways of expressing it, depending on each one`s personality and feelings. For those who can find their words I will make a selection of wedding poems, a source of inspiration after all.

A short poem, but a profound one is called “Poem” by Nichita Stanescu says: “Tell me, if I catch you one day and if I kiss your foot, will you halt for a while, not to crush my kiss?”

Another beautiful and full of signification fragment from a poem is signed by Mihai Eminescu: “In this world there are so many women, with eyes that spring sparks. But not matter how high are they, like you they are not. Prettiest than any star, my love, my love!”

Ion Minulescu is also known for it`s romances. “Because we love” is one of them: “And we loved each other, and today everyone knows…But how much we will love each other even we don`t know, neither the whole world won`t know!”. If this is not on your taste there is another one about confidence and belief in your soul mate: “In you I put my whole hope. And I tell you: -From now on be my all and I will be for you the same atheist, that apart you does not believe in something. Be everything.”( “Romance without music”).

I will end with a Mihai Eminescu`s poem, even the list can continue. This last poem is called “Retorts”; it`s a double declaration of love, a poem about how lovers complete reciprocally: “(the poet) You are wave, I am horizon,/I am coast, you are sea,/You are night, I`m a star-my love.

(the girl) You are a day, I am the sun,/I am a butterfly, you are a flower,/I am a temple, you are a god-my love. You are a king, I am a queen(…).

(the poet) You are a brow, I am a diadem,/ I`m a genius, you are a problem,/I look into your eyes to guess you-and I love you!

(…) (the girl) Oh, what`s mystic in this soul that burns, is nothing mine, is all yours.”

As a conclusion “remember to say I love you (…) but say it from the bottom of your heart.”(Octavian Paler).

Note: The poems are Romanian ones, so the translation may not have the same meaning or understanding.
