I had no idea how time consuming the search for the wedding dress implies. Not to mention that the quest is the one that reveals how women, brides-to-be, react while facing the immensity of designs and styles displayed online and of course downtown. For instance, my fiancée, had to spent more than three days in our local stores (and they are only four) in order to decide on one single dress! I have to admit that it started to drive me crazy because whenever I had to meet my future bride, she was all the time talking about the dress, how she would like to surprise me and, as she claimed, this was the reason why it took her so long to decide on THE one. But I think that when it comes to this attire, it is only a matter of showing-off, the grooms, at least for me goes this way, do not give a s…! on the way this dress looks like! If it were for me, it could have been short or long with train or without, it didn’t make any difference to me, so why would it make for them, that’s far beyond my power of understanding?! And what is there in a woman’s mind when it comes to fashion, now this is another issue which I would never come to comprehend! But anyway, I wish you all to find what you desire and as such be the most glamorous ones in this big day of your life!

Useless to say how many nights I have spent with my eyes open dreaming of my wedding dress. I wanted for the very beginning to be a white wedding gown with a long chapel train, the ones you see in the movies, the sumptuous style, but when I came down on earth I realized that the prices were far too high to even dare dreaming further on of this style of wedding gown. I was more than disappointed when my best friend came up with a proposal: to look online for discontinued wedding dresses, or online stores that sell these special attires at discount prices or even the second hand ones. I am not at all a fan for already worn outfits, but I knew as well that the discontinued wedding gowns could have in their range some which had been previously ordered and got interrupted from delivering because the engagement had meanwhile broken. So, my second step was to browse online for these discontinued wedding gowns and lucky me I had found one delivered by one of the famous online stores. And I can say that I have been truly lucky as the model and the design fitted exactly my taste and my style. So I didn’t wait up too much and I went further on for its ordering. The only issue was that at the moment I tried it on some tiny little alterations were required, but again the good luck was o my side: a friend of mine, though she is not a professional seamstress managed to make the gown to match my sizes in such a manner that one could have sworn that it was bought according to my body sizes and shape! And if this isn’t luck, what is?

To may opinion, when it comes to a woman’s taste in fashion nothing is more relevant than to watch her walking in her chosen wedding dress! I consider that the style and the personality of a woman is most obvious the moment she has decided upon the model of her wedding gown, the one meant to be worn in the most important day of her life! Since this day is that important, women need to expose their preferences, some choosing extravagance, some choosing modesty, others preferring modernism and updated fashion styles. So, if one is looking to define the personality of a woman, probably the day of her wedding is the most relevant one in this respect.
I, for one, have done this ‘research’ - if I may say - and played a game: I tried to find out in what way a woman personality is to be emphasized the moment I saw her standing outside on the doorstep of the registry for the wedding’s photos shooting. I liked to play this game trying to guess her own style and tastes by judging the design of her wedding dress. There was no one to confirm my suppositions, of course, but yet I used to play whenever I came across a wedding and its bride! You should do it sometimes, in case you get bored while having a stroll downtown and you happen to bump into a wedding event!

My wedding day was spent quite ordinarily, and now reading all these comments, I realize that not too many brides choose to have a common dress, this “common” term deriving from the usual and traditional white wedding gown. The style of my dress was nothing of spectacular: it was sheath-style made, manufactured from delicately embroidered cotton, a very, very thin in texture cotton, with some lace at the hemline and some to encircle the scooped cleavage. The design was created by a friend of mine, who is a professional couturiere by trade, therefore I entrusted her all the decisions both for the style and the design. But it happened so, that as simple as my wedding gown ended up being, to look very delicate on me and everybody attending to my wedding day expressed their praising on both the model of the dress and the bride to wear it...!!!
So, it makes me wonder: what does it really matter? To wear an expensive in fabric and design wedding gown or simply to go with the style that suits a bride to be the best even if this style is not that sophisticated and pricey? As I have seen and felt on my own skin, the second version seems to be the one to matter, although I still have good friends to stick for the first opinion.
Well, as everything in this world is questionable, maybe the wedding gown’s choice is also considered to belong to this category! Have a good life!

Well, I consider that wearing a colored wedding dress, no matter the color, is indeed an act of courage. I wanted for my wedding to go for an orange dress with royal blue embroideries, but my parents didn’t agree with it. These two colors are actually my favorite ones, but since that specific gown was quite expensive, $650.00, and I lacked such an amount, I was supposed to actually ask for the balance amount (almost $300.00) but I got stuck in their discontent, therefore I saw myself forced to choose the white color for my wedding dress which ended up being quite beautiful and sophisticated, if I may say. Now, seeing the photos and the video shot during my wedding day, I don’t feel that much sorry any more for not having a colored wedding dress. And later I have found out that my hubby wouldn’t have loved at all to choose a dress that was other than the traditional white. So, I had chosen something that actually was on my fiancé’s taste and for this I am grateful to my folks. Had I bought a colored wedding gown my fiancé would have been quite grumpy in the day of our wedding and that wouldn’t have been good at all, go figure! And if there was another need to thank my parents, well, I do it once again for not letting me do what had crossed my stubborn mind in the days of hunting for the wedding dress! Peace.

Yes, all right! My wedding dress was all red, I have to admit it; and not less were my guests surprised to see my appearance in my ball gown dress with the golden embroidery all over the bodice. The cut of the cap-sleeves was off-shoulder and the cleavage was quite deep. I can say that I felt like Jezebel while walking down the aisle in the disapproving eyes of my guests, not to mention that my folks have been from the very beginning against my idea of wearing the red silk made dress for my wedding. I tried, but useless to say, without succeeding, to convince them that this is my wish and nothing could change my mind. I was almost on the verge of heading to my wedding without my parents’ blessing, but finally, helped of course, by my dearest friends (who have, by the way, secretly helped me to choose my wedding gown – my parents have been kept aside all the way of my wedding dress chase) they agreed and joined me with wishful thoughts toward my wedding ceremony.
Even if I proved to be very stubborn and determined that nothing would ruin my day, I had felt a little bit of discomfort hearing among my guests shushing and whispering all sorts of exclamations and disapprovals as well. But step by step I managed to get rid of this embarrassing feeling and mind my own commitment and dedication to my fiancé and to the wedding itself. In the end, it turned out to be a happy and entertaining celebration and it seemed that finally my guests got rid of their prejudices and enjoyed themselves a lot! So, no matter what follow your dream when it comes to the choice of your wedding gown, as peculiar as it might seem in the eyes of the beholders! This is my advice, that’s all!

Having a wedding on the beach is indeed a beautiful idea, and as much as some say that this venue is the one that requires a casual outfit, considering the fact that the venue is sandy and most of the time brides might risk to brush the sand with the long trains, this fact shouldn’t bother anyone at all! I have been invited on this type of wedding and it was really a dream-like the way my friend made her appearance on the improvised aisle! She was wearing also a long chapel train for her wedding gown, and not less was I surprised to see her removing the train not long after the ceremonial was over, to wear only a casual wedding gown that allowed her to move at her ease among the invitees. And I couldn’t help myself thinking that when my time would come I would definitely prefer wearing this style of wedding gown – to be at my wedding both a queen and diva!
I have browsed meanwhile for these designs – with detachable trains – and there are plenty of styles, either with the dress of a tea-length type, or short type. But to me, as my lover says, a shorter version is more suitable as he has always been proud of the shape of my legs and in this special day I will plan to make him …prouder, if I may say!
But till that day comes, I keep dreaming with my eyes open and keep looking for that specific dress, and in case I find it at a cheaper price, I consider to purchase it as soon as possible, as much as some say that it is bad luck to have the dress long before the wedding day is even fixed. I really do not care, I want it; therefore I will have it, no matter what they say! All the best wishes for brides to be and the ones dreaming to be!

When I had my wedding in Hawaii everybody advised me to go for a simpler wedding gown, as my wedding venue was meant to be improvised directly on the shore, but I stuck to my decision of wearing a long trained wedding dress! I can say that it was really fantastic! The embroidery on my white dress was blue, the same hue as the waves, and whenever I made a move the blue motifs of the train symbolizing the waves were similar to the ones brushing the shore. I have some photos of this wonderful and romantic celebration and all of my friends said that I was a truly sea goddess wearing that white and blue wedding gown holding the red flowers like a scepter in my hands.
The celebration was indeed one of love, especially that we were surrounded by the natural settings, but as you have probably guessed, I had to take off my majestic wedding gown after midnight and wear a short casual white one for the dancing moments. That’s why I advise brides who plan to have their wedding event celebrated on the beaches to have a back up dress the moment the wedding reception starts; it is way safer and easier to move around guests and while dancing.
I wish you all enjoy these moments of romance, of love and commitment once you have decided to take this step!

Good luck!

Hello, hello!

It is the most important event in the life of a couple, as one has mentioned before, but to me wearing a dress to stand for my family traditions is the most appealing thing! This is the only event which defines everything we have, traditionally and spiritually, in our life, and I plan to follow the un-written rules accordingly. This is why I don’t certainly agree with the idea of a colored wedding gown, as long as my mother, my grand mother, my great grand mother and all the women in my family have worn the pure, immaculate white in the day of their weddings! I have already found my dress and I can tell you that this sparkling white leads oneself to the only thought: that a bride commits herself in the purest of her thoughts and feelings, and nothing can compare to this white which sends the step of getting married into the eternity of love, sharing and dedication!
I don’t want to sound that extreme, but considering that after all, a wedding is all about being involved in a life of two for the rest of one’s life, than one can not regard this gesture other than an awareness of one’s involvement in new territories which bring new experiences. This is why, I imagine, that the white color of a wedding dress is so highly regarded!!! But again, this is my belief and I don’t want to make it sound as written in stone for all the brides of the world!
I wish you brides have a happy celebration of your wedding day, regardless of your wedding dress’s color choice!
