Wedding Ceremonies

A wedding involves two parts: a civil wedding and a religious one. In other words, there are two types of weddings ceremonies. The first one takes place usually at the Hall and the second one, of course, to a church.

The civil wedding has to happen before the religious one. Consequently, some couples decide to the wedding ceremonies apart, each one with it`s party. Also, the civil ceremony is a simple one, it is only needed two persons related with the grooms or not to sign as witness. Apart this, it`s signification has the same importance as the religious one: the grooms give their approval to become a family according with the laws. They can choose which name to have: bride`s first name, groom`s first name or both of them. According to a Romanian tradition the woman has to fallow her man in everything and choosing to change her first name in her husband`s first name favor is a symbol of obedience. But, this thing depends on each culture, because the Italian one is totally different: after the wedding the woman remains with her first name and only the children will receive father`s first name.

The religious ceremony has also deep connotations. The grooms are blessed by a priest in order to set a seal to their decision. Through the prayers the grooms receive God`s benediction, represented by 3 bites from a cookie and 3 for wine, in order to express their decision to live together in love and harmony. Also, at the end of the ceremony, along with their godfathers the grooms have to go round priest`s table 3 times, as a manifestation of joy and happiness for the just-married couple.

Wedding ceremonies are the most astonishing events in one`s life. Hearing priest`s sermon and then your soul mate vow to love, respect you until death, makes your cry because of the extreme and powerful emotions you have. It is also a sign of maturity and responsibility to get married; it is a life commitment after all. From here there is the symbolism of the weddings rings.

Apart from this, you must know that when choosing the date for your wedding take into consideration priest`s advice. By this I mean that you may have the surprise to find out that the church has a full schedule. Also, the weddings are forbidden in fasting period (for example 1 month before Christmas or 2 months before Easter).

All in all, weddings ceremonies implies time to fix all the details, determination to do this step and hope to get over it without unhappy events;some of the brides or groom faint under time and emotions pressure.

Those who got married already are obliged to keep their love and respect each other for the rest of their life together are rise their children according to church thoughts.Amin.

I find this tradition you wrote about here quite nice. 3 sips, 3 bites, magical numbers to begin a new life with. But although I like wedding ceremonies of different cultures, I am traditional in this respect and I wouldn’t do other but the way it is here. So the minister’s blessings and the vows we are going to tell I think are also nice traditions to be held by people. I see too many wedding ceremonies where the couple choose to do it in a different cultural way and I think they are missing something. Every wedding ceremony it’s beautiful in its own culture, but if they are taken away from the context, then they are not as nice as usual.
