Men’s Wedding Rings

When we think about engagement rings, we know that they are worn only by the future bride and not also by the future groom. Why should wedding rings make any difference? Today we are used to see wedding rings worn by both wife and husband on their fourth finger. But things were not always this way.

For East Europeans the exchange of rings is always done at the wedding ceremony and even if the ceremony does not contain a part especially for the rings placement on the partner’s finger, the rings are present both for the bride and the groom. Tradition says that the rings are made of gold in the grooms’ case and of silver for the bride. The rings have to be blessed by the priest at the church. In other European cultures the wedding ring is the same as the engagement ring, the only difference being that the bride changes the ring form the finger of one hand to the other hand. In other cases, the rings are different, but this can raise another question: what is going to happen with the engagement ring after the wedding. Some brides decide to move it form the right hand to the left one and continue wearing it on the same finger with the wedding ring. Others decide to keep only the wedding ring and take out the engagement one.

As we can see, rings are associated mostly with women, even if they are engagement or wedding rings. To ask a man today to wear an engagement ring seems do stupid and actually without any sense. Maybe this is what people used to think 70 years ago about wedding ring. In Europe and in the United States, only women used to wear wedding rings. Men started wearing wedding rings only since the beginning of the Second World War, so in 1940s. 80 percent of those who decided to get married in those times exchanged rings during the wedding ceremony.

Today men’s wedding rings are very popular and many models for guys can be found. In fact some brides can not imagine being the only ones who wear a wedding ring. This is way in many cases the wedding rings are sold in sets which include the man’s wedding ring the bride’s wedding ring and the engagement ring with the possibility to convert the last two into a single, permanent wedding ring. The wedding ring material is another problem. You can choose from silver, gold and platinum. A plain gold band is the most popular pattern and it can be a good choice for you also, mostly if simple jewelries are the best ones for you and your future in law partner.
