Why would these young people nowadays not stick to their customs and traditions, I just don’t understand. My niece wants an exotic wedding and I tried to understand her, but I can’t. Filipino, Indian, Japanese or European weddings should be done by those who live in those countries. Why, don’t we have enough beautiful traditions here as well? Aren’t our vows beautiful enough? Too much imagination, that’s why youngsters nowadays don’t stick to their country’s customs. There may be beautiful weddings and beautiful ceremonies in other cultures, I don’t deny it, but what’s wrong with ours? Put on an exotic dress if you really feel like it, but stick to your own traditions. That’s how it should be done.

I’ve recently seen a documentary on Filipino traditions and there was also a scene with a wedding ceremony. I thought it was very beautiful and now I’m gathering more information about Filipino weddings. I never thought of a themed wedding until now, when I read about it here. I always thought a wedding is a wedding and that’s it. But now I’ve changed my mind. A wedding is important and making it the way you like it’s the perfect thing to do. And after seeing the Filipino documentary, I think this might be a very good idea for my future wedding. I like not only the wedding ceremony, but also the wedding attire worn by the bride, the orange blossom bouquet and the rosary a bride has to wear.
