The outdoor church wedding decorations should be the first part. This type of decoration is useful as well, because it will help your guests to find the church easier. Use decorated directional signs, luminaries and vinyl wedding stickers. The luminaries can be really fantastic. Arrange them on the stairs and it will look like a place stolen from a fairy tale.
The traditional pew bows can be improved with special twists and can be dressed up really fancy. In this way your church wedding decorations won’t look like all other church wedding decorations. If the ceremony it’s in winter or ,it’s close to Christmas time, than it’s time to attach a red velvet bow. If your ceremony it’s most a Western kind of event, you can put the floral decorations in some cowboys hats. Besides you can attach some faux butterflies for a summery felling. Try to keep the wedding in line and to organize the church wedding decorations in relation with the whole wedding theme. If you don’t want to stick to the traditional bows, here are some more modern options:
- accordion fold fans
- horseshoes
- dried wreaths
- mistletoe, ivy and holly
- small umbrella hung upside down, filled with flowers petals or just flowers.

- an arch it’s great and should be placed at the end of the pews so the couple and the priest could stay under it or just to pass through.
- lights or green garland around the stairs and weave tulle can look amazing as well
- rent two candelabras is the church doesn’t have some, and put them at the end of the altar after decorating them with silk flowers.
Important tip: Because the altar it’s such an important religious place, double check before doing any too creative church wedding decorations.
Many churches have a balcony above the altar area. That its another great place to decorate. Ivy or tulle garland can be swagged across the whole balcony. The church can have banners or its own church wedding decoration that you may use for a little charge. Talk to the priest and ask him what can you use, haw can you use it and where can you use it. Try to use as many items from the church as you can so you will save money and time.
Church wedding decoration can take a lot of time. Follow these steps and it will be much easier for you to gain your time and money while doing your church wedding decoration.
Wow! I would have made huge mistakes if I hadn’t read this article. But now I know what to ask the minister about regarding the chapel and what to look for in more detail.
As for the ideas you gave, I like the umbrella tip. I could imagine a very nice white umbrella filled with beautiful wild flowers, so that one might think it’s closer to nature.
I hope there will be no restriction regarding natural flowers, because I always imagined the church decorated with garlands of ivy and little red roses. Mainly because they have such a nice scent and because I don’t know, I always thought they are fit for a church or chapel. And there is nothing more beautiful than natural flowers.
So… thank you again for the tips and the ideas. They are very useful.
