Church of England is the officially established Christian Church in England; it is both Catholic and Reformed. If you want to get married by Church of England there are several steps you need to follow. First choose a church and contact the Vicar of the church where you will like to merry. Many people merry in their own local church, but there is no problem if you want to marry in a different church that has a special significance for you and your family.
You can merry in any church in England if you or your partner can show that you have been living in the parish for at least 6 months, or if you attended the church services regularly in the past 6 months, or if your parents or grandparents were married in the perish. Talk to the Vicar of the church well in advance for more information.
If you are not christened and you don’t go to church you can still have a church wedding if your partner is a Christian. If you want to find a church in any area in England visit this website and follow the search instructions. Then choose a date for your wedding and booked up several months in advance, it is good to contact the Vicar of the church at the same time you make reservation at the reception venue. There is a small legal fee for marrying in a church it depends on church but usually it is not more than $ 350 which includes all legal necessities.
You can choose a Vicar from another church to perform the ceremony in the perish you want. If you are a foreign and you want a Church of England wedding this means some extra paperwork. If you are not a resident of UK you should visit The Home Office web page on visiting the UK to merry, you may also need a Common License if one of you is a national of another country. If both of you are British but you live abroad you can apply of a Common License to merry in a Church of England.
well… I’m not in any category you describe here, because I’m not that interested in getting married in a church in English. But I was very curious to read about this and I found it very interesting. Its nice to get informed and to get other ideas, isn’t it? I just have to say I like the churches in England and maybe this is why I was interested in reading this article. I think their churches are very fit for very elegant weddings and this is what I want to have too. But since i won’t ever get married there and since I could only visit a church in England later on, I think I will just try to find more about their customs and traditions. And I like it that there are some rules regarding getting married in a parish there. it’s very nice, really.
