After being together for almost 20 years, the Carina Lau and Tony Leung couple united their lives in a ceremony that took place at the luxurious Uma Paro hotel from Bhutan. The wedding took place on July 22 (Xinhuanet) in Beijing. When they got married Tony was 46, and Carina 42. After the wedding’s reception, approximately twenty lamas were seen leaving the Uma Paro Hotel the next day.
In the Ming Pao Daily News the rumors said there were about 80 guests present at the reception, among which was also invited the former actress Brigitte Lin (Lin Qinxia), the singer Faye Wong (Wang Fei), and singer Kenry Bee (Zhong Zhentao). Other celebrities invited at the wedding party were Cecilia Yip (Ye Tong), Chang Chen (Zhang Zhen), and Stanley Kwan (Guan Jinpeng).
There was a lot of secrecy before and after the wedding took place, because the couple required more privacy. However, the couple was very understanding with the press when they required some official photographs of the event.

Eric Tsang was the one who introduced the Bhutan Prince to Carina. However, he could not be present at the wedding ceremony, due to its overcrowded schedule. He said he regretted he missed the couple’s wedding, and he added that “when I knew that Carina decided to get married in Bhutan, I immediately called the prince. It’s a coincidence that the Prince was in Hong Kong, so I arrange him to meet with Carina and Tony.”
Carina Lau had five sets of clothes for the wedding party that night, while the hosts recommended their guests to have two sets of clothes for this occasion.

In the Chinese tradition, the weddings have a teasing session prepared for the newly weds. However, Carina said that her wedding shouldn’t include this type of tradition because she considers that her guests are all “mature”, which means the ceremony would only be very emotional. However, the tradition followed its course and the couples had to obey their guests when they were teased.
Speaking about security, the Carina Lau and Tony Leung‘s wedding was expected to attract many reporters and paparazzi to Bhutan. Consequently, the paparazzi had to strive more to obtain some shots with the newly weds. In the hotel that was prepared for the wedding ceremony, the security proved to be very tight, so the paparazzi couldn’t really obtain the photographs that they aimed for. Surprisingly, the reporters found out that security spread even to the hotel’s neighborhoods. As an extra security measure, all the guests received a red card as their security pass to the reception. The Stanley Team, a specialized team to protect the privacy of the ceremony was also present at the hotel, together with the police of Bhutan. Other information about the beautiful wedding you can find on this site and you can also leave here your own opinions about the wedding ceremony.
What shall I say about the wedding ceremony if I haven’t been there? I’m jealous, that’s all. I liked the article a lot and if i had money I would also like to change my clothes several times. I liked the fact that the tradition was kept, that regarding the teasing. And I am all for keeping the event a very private one. I think the wedding requires a certain amount of intimacy. No matter how much one would like to share their love with the whole world, on the wedding day you want to be you and feel cared and loved and spend the day with all your loved ones and that’s it.
